Lili & Max / “One Ring” Engagement Shoot / Beverly Hills, California
I have been shooting couples on either edge of marriage for years. Couples who are in love and engaged to be married, and then couples meeting each other on the alter to start their first day united.
I myself have only been married a year and a half (as of yesterday, actually! 😉 ), and since then a lot has changed in how I capture the love of others. My heart has moved away, slightly, from a rambunctious excitement and anticipation for the unknown adventure of marriage, because it is no longer unknown to me! I now – in my aged year…sish of marriage – carry a kind of sweet quietness that is settled in the comfort and hope of a life-long friendship.
As God teaches me how to be married, and how to love well, I am finding that the way I see beauty and capture it with my camera changes as I do. I adore tiny gestures between couples, laughter, glances, and stillness together. I suppose these are attributes that I love most in my relationship with my husband, and now I cherish seeing them in others, too.
Marriage is marvelous. It is my deepest hope that photos like these (for BEST friends like Lili and Max, for instance), will encourage them (and you) to love your spouse well in marriage. To remember little quarks in each other and to force yourself to laugh at them when it’s hard. To remember good memories as good to glue you together, and resentful memories mountains to pass by in order to get back to your union together.
Lili & Max – Your friendship inspired me greatly. I am SO excited to see you get married and to capture your wedding day!
